9” swinguard conversion
So I found this 9” AGA manual knife on eBay awhile back and since it didn’t have a nail nick I thought it would make a good conversion. Off to JTK with a request for a diamond shaped button. It was Jeremy’s idea to make new guards as well .. what came back is one of the coolest knives I own. Can’t thank you enough Jeremy !

Wow, what a cool knife. Love the diamond and the larger swing guards. Good idea Mike and great execution Jeremy.
Thanks for posting pictures.

Nice job ! The manual version is a pain to open without the nail nick. Some can be flicked open but some can't....

thanks guys ...
Re: 9” swinguard conversion
This piece came out really cool! I had never noticed the lack of a nail nick on the manual swingers. Fine looking piece!

I think these ones with no nail nicks are made from the auto pieces, just with no button or full length kickspring. The lock on this one had the two bumps where the kickspring would push into it.rock-n-roll$$$$$$ wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 6:45 pm I have never seen a manual knife with out a nail nick, kind of odd,and what if your hand are wet?
Re: 9” swinguard conversion
Eric they are a pain to open if they are not loose enough to flick open at least partly. You have to pinch the folding guard to open them if they are tight....
Jim I just looked into a few of them I have but don't see how you could insert a spring?

Re: 9” swinguard conversion
You wouldn't be able to insert a spring. You would have to take the base part out (with the little spring that pushes the lock) then put one of the auto bases that had the full length kickspring in. The lock in these no nail nick ones is like the auto ones that has the bumps for the kickspring to push into.
