JPL with box
I recently acquired this JPL with the box from an antique store. The knife is in like new condition but the box shows ware with two flaps on one end missing. Because the knife is like new I believe it’s been in some box since it was originally purchased. The question has arisen about whether this box is original to this knife. I don’t know the answer so I would appreciate any help anyone else can give concerning this question. The opposing sides of the box are identical. Thanks

I dont know for sure if that box is original ,but the wording Spring knife" and the Superior Quality steel is typically Japanese and it seems to go perfectly with the knife inside it.
That knife is a true beauty and the condition is amazing.
What a great find .
Wish they had things like that in the UK antique shops
Congrats on your score mate.

I wish my local shops had knives like these also... I live in a small town with the majority of people are retired vets... I still hold out hope that some of these locals have some souvenirs from the days they were overseas...
Looking for those un-repairable, lost cause stilettos.

Re: JPL with box
I was the person wondering about the box. It is definitely an Asian knife box that is the right size and looks to be the right age. And the knife looks like it was bought and left in the box until now (a JPL with no crack in the front scale is pretty rare).
I just wasn't sure if these ones had boxes like that. It could be the box from another old Asian knife that got mixed up with that knife. Or it could be the actual box for that knife. I am hoping someone has some idea about that.
