Edit- added the after the visit to the master photos.
Mr. Bill, thank you so much, you have done a wonderful job on the restoration/clean up!
Also introducing.... my new light box thingy. Now all my pictures won't look like someone peed on the prints... and will show off the beauty of the scales...
It has a bent tip... no biggie.
Without further ado...

That is a very nice piece that ought to clean up well. I know many here love "patina", but cleaning it and oiling it to stop the oxidation is important in my book. Great catch.
Re: I think y'all might be proud of me on this one....EIG kris blade
Thanks everyone!
I'm still in my "figuring out what I like phase". The patina of the blade is nice, but so is shiny... the tip definitely needs to be addressed, there are a couple of chips in the scales, nothing major. I think she needs a little love... and a tune up. She kicks fine, but there might be something inside that I can't see.natcherly wrote:That is a very nice piece that ought to clean up well. That's not "patina." It's rust, and it should be removed as soon as possible.
I urge you to get some 0000 steel wool, and scrub the steel parts vigorously-it won't hurt them.
Then wipe them off. Then soak in WD 40 for a few minutes. Wipe/soak as much of the WD 40 off as possible.
If there is still rust, do it all again.
Or, send it to me and have it properly cleaned.
