11" Button Open/Close

Post by JulesVane »

I've been able to add a few BO/BC in 8", but this is my first 11". Stamped simply ROSTFREI on front, PATENT on back. I'm sure it's not uncommon to many, just uncommon to me...

Thank you Sammy. It seems to be. I'm thinking 1960's(?).

Thank you! Just when I think I've found something "uncommon", one (or more) of our seasoned collectors will show me 10 of them from their collection lol. If there's a 13" BO/BC ever made, these guys got 'em! But, a 13" would be something I'm certainly not aware of (yet).

The closer the sear is to the pivot, the more difficult everything gets so there is kind of a limit to how big a Bo/c can be so there aren't many big ones. I saw a 15" AGA (I think it was AGA) Italian Bo/c but it was the only one I have ever seen.

That thing looks absolutely pristine, like it spent the last fifty years hiding in someone's sock drawer. Nice find, Chris.

Thanks Rick! I feel pretty lucky to have it.

that is so cool. Is it the picture or is the bottom bolster kind of cut off / less flared than usual ? I had no idea bo/bc knives came larger than 9”. You sure find some great knives. I hope you keep sharing them because I always seem to learn something new from reading your posts.

Button open/close was always my favorite...Maybe because as a youngster I never had a real Italian stiletto and didn't have a clue about what a pick lock was or even a swivel bolster. I had a couple cheap Rizzies and a couple half worn out American button knives and that's how they worked.

I had two, sold vintage one to JB. Later a 13" Renzo Pascutto BOBC, sold it to a collector for $700, he resold for a grand.
