Frank B Flatguard w/ custom horn scales

Post by ljerr2 »

Hi All -

Thought I would post up a pic of a new addition to my collection. It started life as a stag handled 11" flatguard from Frank B.
Now it has horn scales and a custom safety from TbarK! :D

Beautiful piece. Tank does absolutely 1st class work. I have an AGA 13 that he scaled in stag and file worked.

Jerrod...Just curious, as I've seen the term before, what is actually a "custom safety"? Is it something internal or the addition of a red dot?

For my custom safety, Tank built a flat button safety to match the main button. It is not a thin folded piece as from the factory. I think mechanically it functions a little differently, too, because when we talked about this as an option he said it was generally more reliable than the original type.
I'll post up a pic.

The modified safety cap is wonderful. I love the way it matches the main button. I was just wondering if a "custom safety" was the visual appeal of the cap itself, or while the scales were off, the entire safety mechanism underneath the scale was modified or customized in some way. I'm sure we've all come across a safety that has become worn, loose or even slides with the tilt of the knife. This knife is just fabulous Jerrod.
