finally, a picklock.

Post by Erik131065 »

Finally I have one myself. Purchased from knifeshop Austria an (alledged) Beltrame stag horn picklock. The tang stamp says "stiletto Italy". I think it"s beautifull. Sorry for the pics but I can't get them any better with my phone.ImageImageImage

Looks a lot like the Sons of Anarchy intro knife.

Looks like a Frank B knife to me, and I have several. He was the first to make picklocks in the modern era after production of these ceased many years ago. He did use the stiletto Italy tang stamp. He went to Frank B in the early / mid 2000's, at least for production headed to the US.

Well I have a swingguard and two classics that are stamped Frank B. I think you are right. He was the first to make them since the late fifties. It's got the modern button mechanism though. I like the soldered nickel silver bolsters on it, and it has no blade play at all.

I captured the photo, did a one step photo fix and cropped it. It's not the camera, it's the post processing.

Can't spit around here without hitting an Erik (Eric) ... or a Tom ... or a Dave.

Hahaha I guess you're right. Thank you both and a happy new year Eric and Erik. Erik with a "K" is a mistake. My father spelled it wrong when registrating back in 1965. Erik, I happen to know you're in Europe also. Did you ever see one of those Rizutto's around here? They were totally new to me when I got into the online blade forums. Happy New Year to all.....

..yes, i'm in Europe and born in 1966, as far as i know the name Erik was very fashionable back then.
Would love to have a Rizutto some day, never seen them over here, i order my stuff from the makers directly in Italy
but they don't sell Rizutto's as far as i know.

The only improvement I could ask for on that knife would be a flat grind blade.
