1970s R Zafrilla Inox made in Spain

Post by AutoMania »

This is a 1970s R Zafrilla Inox auto side opener, made in Spain. It was stored for over 30 years closed but snapped open like the day it was bought! Strong spring. Scales are hard plastic, but very durable. It looks much like the French Florinox from the same time period. 3" mirror blade, plain. A slide safety is below the button, to the left.

I can't find this knife anywhere after doing a google search. Anyone know of any others?

The pic isn't the clearest, my camera does not have good macro. I'll be getting a new cam one of these days.

Enjoy,
AM

Cool knife. I have the French Florinox model and they do have a great snap. :D

That is an interesting piece of switchblade history, thanks for sharing. I wish I had some insight into its history.

Jim,

I can't find much info on Zafrilla switchblades. A google search turns up hits on fixed hunting blades and pocket knives, but little on switchblades. It is almost identical to the French Florinox but mine has R Zafrilla stamped on the blade.
Here's a thread on the Florinox:

Cool, does the blade lock in the open position?
Would be nice to get a close up of the blade.

Very cool! It's interesting how many similar models the French and Spanish manufacturers have

I'm not so sure that many French models were actually made in Spain.
