Teddy,

What model camera did you get? I'm looking for one that will capture close up detail.
I collect springblades but I carry my "thumbers."

This one.....

But the pics I posted don't do it justice.... Fotki don't seem to like you linking to the original opload.....(protecting their bandwidth I suppose) they give you a link to a more highly compressed and downsized pic.... to see the original photos go to the next two links and then click on " Get original upload

All the best
Teddy

PS..... I'm currently testing a new host site

Teddy,

Great pics! :D I guess it takes 5 megapixels to get your fine results - I sure haven't done anything close to yours with my 2 megapixels!

From all that I've read recently and from the demo pics I've seen.. three megapixels will do for most snapshots..... they look just fine on a PC monitor..... but I wanted one that would completely replace my old film camera (Olympus OM1) so it had to be high-end.....they call 'em "pro-sumer" these days.... they used to be called "semi-pro" .......buggered if I can see the reason for the name change...

All the best

The best advice I ever got, beyond the basics of shutter speed, aperture and depth of field was this:

"Light. Photography is light. Light is everything.
Once you understand lighting, you have arrived."

To that I'd just add: acquiring the best tripod you can afford will make a huge difference in your future with the hobby. A remote shutter release is also key in maximizing your tripod.

Teddy,

Someday I'm going to take pictures like yours. Putting my knives on a piece of paper and tracing around them with a pencil just doesn't look quite as good as your photos. :?

Perhaps if you coloured 'em in they may look better.... you know... if ya can't get the hang of paint you can always use crayons...

Teddy,

Nice pics you're taking there! I've got an Olympus myself...only it's not a nice as yours.Mines a D-460 zoom with only 1.3 megapixels.
I just seen your Leverletto pics and thought I'd show mine too. I just love dark horn with lots of conrast

I really like the way that blonde Leverletto seems to be 'floating' above the light background up there a few posts back. How did you do that?
