My three Italian MOP's

Post by john »

Hello Everyone,
I was asked by at least two people if I would take a group photo of my three Mother of Pearl Knives. The three knives were scaled by Lucio Di Bon the Frosolone was handmade by Renzo Pascotto the other two, the Fish and Stiletto are from the Campolin Family. If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to write. MOP is difficult at best to photograph. I tried several techniques to capture the color of the MOP and that's why I have multiple photos of the same view. Thank you in advance for taking the time to take a look.

Hello HDC,
I'm glad you like them. I was having lighting problems. I'm thinking of reshooting them and replacing the photos.
Thank you, HDC, for taking a look and writing,
John

Hello maceco,
They weren't easy to shoot. I'm lucky they came out as good as they did. They look great in the sun shine.
Thank you, maceco, for taking a look and your comment,

Great set of MOP. That Frosolone is a beauty. What is the quality of the Campolin like? Have had mixed feelings about the design but kind of cool with the MOP scales. Great pis by the way. 8)

Great looking collection of MOP switches!!!! Very nice. I have some German lock backs in real pearl and they are hard to photo for sure.

gorgeous, John!
I'd be willing to bet that diversity and scale-wise, if we were to have a modern collectors competition, you just might take the cake  :)
The Italian makers know WTF they're doing! And as an enthusiast/collector, so do you... awesome set of pearls me friend
Cheers (with Jameson, cream, and columbian roast),

Hello Razor_54,

The quality of the new Campolin 2011 stiletto is top notch. It has a good feel to it; nicely balanced. It fires strong. I recommend it in any style, horn or stag. It's not the typical stiletto design, but once in your hand you'll feel how well it's made. You can use it as a working knife; I think it's built to last.

The fish is an excellent knife it; is very well made and I recommend it too. Only three Fish patterns were made in MOP for 2011. The Frosolone was made by Renzo Pascotto and Lucio Di Bon; these two craftsmen make an amazing team. Lucio scaled all three of these MOPs in this thread; MOP from what I have learned a difficult material to work with, but Lucio is an expert at using MOP.

Thank you, Razor, for taking time to take a look, your comment and question,
John

Hello Panzerfaust,
Figuratively and literally they are very sharp. You know how some knives are sharp; these are dangerously sharp.
Thank you, Panzerfaust, for taking time to take a look and for your comment,
John

Hello Lars,
If it wasn't for you and Free asking of a group shot I most likely wouldn't have thought of doing it. I'm glad you like the photos as I have said before MOP isn't the easiest to shoot.
Thank you, Lars, for taking time to take a look at the 3 MOPs and your comment,
John
