Stag stiletto swedge switchblade

Post by Panzerfaust »

Here is one of my recent purchases, a stag-handled 13-inch stiletto with swedge blade I am guessing was made in the mid 1960s to mid 70s, but I am not sure when the switched from the swedge blade to the straight flat grind. Also shown is a photo of my swivel-bolster stilettos.

Very nice transitional Panzerfaust and thanks for sharing. I agree with you on the timing. Are the bolsters ns or ss?

Hi Jim,
Bolsters are SS, however, the button appears to be NS. Tang is stamped Rostfrei.

Thanks for the info - a classic transitional. The prevailing theory is during that period whatever parts were at hand were used as old parts were being replaced by newer ones. This resulted in knives with swedge or plain blades, ns or ss bolsters and buttons (or a mixture as in your case) etc.

Something I just noticed on this knife is that the back handle has two pins at the top. Here is another stag-handled knife that I own. All parts are NS.
