A long time ago, a friend of mine gave me this railroad spike knife as a Christmas gift. After moving into my new house in '05, I misplaced it during the move and couldn't find it anywhere. I can't tell you how many times I tore up my house looking for it. And from the clear blue, while cleaning my closet and going through a box of stuff- there it is. It's not much to look at but has ALOT of sentimental value. It's been a good day!

Re: Railroad spike knife
I've made a few of those but, never though to take pics
I may make some more [sooner or later]
There seems to be considerable variety in how well, different ones, harden/temper They are NOT "all the same"

nice spike. those bad boys can get expensive. Always have had an eye out for one, but price always drives me away. I seem to only find these at county fairs etc.... those boys always want to rob you for all your worth.

What a neat knife,I can understand the sentiment part. I really get attatched to stuff.
Here's one that Brian Lyttle made from a Harley davidson chain.
Re: Railroad spike knife
Very cool knife. Never owned one, but would make an interesting addition.
