Wouldn't the filed part on the blade hinder the transformation process? Dangit, I'm already feeling the headache trying it...
Looking for those un-repairable, lost cause stilettos.

That filed part wouldn't affect anything. All you would need to do to the blade is drill a hole above the stamp for the sear.

The scale pins on many of these were originally flush with the handles.

I mean, why would someone have put that there? If someone was going to make an auto that was a backspring o/c, it would have a similar notch for the backspring to hold it closed. But that would require a totally different backspring. And the notch isn't quite the right angle for that too.
Could there be some other reason for someone to put that notch there?

Even those idiot things have reasons, even if they are idiot reasons (like someone trying to fix peek by grinding the tang back).
Whoever did that to that manual's blade must have had some reason for doing it. What could they have been trying to accomplish?
