It's a stainless that seems to hold an edge a little better than 420. Nothing super but it's o.k.
The quality of the heat-treatment is sometimes more important than the steel used. The finest steel made will be ruined by poor heat-treat procedures and mediocre steel can be brought to it's highest potential by expert heat-treatment.
