Boker/ Magnum KAL-74

Post by Blood_drinker »

I'm not one for knives named after firearms usually, but -

While I may get boo'ed off the forum for this, I just got this in the mail -

http://www.BladePlay.com/index.php?disp ... LASHNIKOV2

I gotta say this is one slick piece of work for the $$$...

Nice lock-up, a safety on the back-spine of the handle & razor sharp...

Not on the par with an SKM stiletto or leverlock, but then again, it doesn't cost as much.
And I thought it might be worth a look-see.

Bottom liner - I'm impressed - for a Taiwan, non-CHICOM made, it'll
hold it's own for cuttin' tasks & as a back-up to any handgun ( if one carries a good
handgun  )

If one carries a GOOD handgun, no backup is needed

Vagrant -

Let's put it this way : when I used to carry, I only had 7-8 shot's
tops, so a good knife was a good backup. The wonder nines
that began appearing in the mid 80's / 90's put alot of firepower
in a pistol ( before that it was the Browning Hi Power ) Some of
my carry pieces were -

Manurin P-1 ( P-38 9mmP )

Mauser HSc ( .380ACP )

Walther TPH ( .22lr )

Erma KGP-68A ( .380ACP )

If applied correctly, these are fine pistols for carry ; the two
confrontations I was involved in didn't end in bloodshed,
and I faced two (2) armed robbers each time. As I didn't expect a
riot on my hands, the Browning HP would have been a little on the
heavy side for EDC & the 13 rds it carried weren't necessary in the
first retrospectively & the second as well. The choice(s) I made over
the 11yrs I carried would've pulled me through, IMO, but I carried a
Blackjack Highland dirk I or Kissing Crane stiletto as well.

In any event one can't be too prepared. And the knives I carried
had utility use as well.

I alway's found a .357 Blackhawk to be a good back up
