I understand that the majority of collectors store with blade open as to reduce stress on the leaf spring. But, they also say that storing them open won't "save" the spring. I myself, store them open because that's what I've seen/read that the more experienced guys here do. I believe that I read Bill's reply that "It doesn't really matter". Sorry for the conflicting answers, but that's what I've got (lol). I'm sure many will reply.

I store my knives open. However, many say it doesn't matter.

This is what I have learned on the topic thus far:
#1: Buy a nice display case and store all your beauties open.
#2: As your addiction grows & all your beauties start to overflow the display case, start closing blades to make more room.
#3: When the display case overflows with closed blades, buy another display case & start w/ #1 all over again w/ 2 cases.

This is the "As The Collection Grows, The Blades Got To Close" syndrome I myself suffer from.

I have an automatic that I've stored closed for 25 years and it still works fine.

Hello!

For what it's worth, they're usually store closed in cutleries before shipping. It shouldn't matter that match, and there's less risk of cutting your finger.
