Tom
I love this knife from the link you gave,is this one you have?
When did you first encounter these knives ?
Was it the 80s and 90s for the GECs and later for the German otters?
I know you have collected for some time and hope i can get a roundabout age for the Klaas.
Thanks again
Ian

The GEC ones are in the range of 5 to 10 years old. The German Otto Messer ones I bought from a guy in Germany within the last five years. The pattern was German ( to the best of my knowledge) and was sold for over 50 years. That said the Robert Klaas ones ( like you have) are most likely 20 to 40 years old, and may have been made by Klaas or subbed out to another maker ( as he did often). I base the age guess on your knife on the general materials, stamp, an overall view I have developed over 40+ years of collecting that I can't always put into words....I don't have the exact knife pictures but do have some stag ones.....
