Just bought an "Old Hickory" 'sticker'.

This 6" double-edge 1095 Carbon Steel dagger blade is so neat! For the princely sum of $9.97 (+ $3.99 shipping) totaling $13.96, it is a sweet knife! This jewel will perform double-duty both in the kitchen and in the field. Its a great value for the money; a flat bevel with a secondary bevel dagger blade is more useful than you think. It's nice to have the ability to turn the knife over and use the other side in the event that the primary edge becomes dull. (While this isn't likely, it's possible). I spent almost all day today putting edges on both sides if the knife. (What a task)! It's almost razor-sharp; I'll finish up tomorrow.

I'll probably buy some more Old Hickory knives for "kitchen duty". These 1095 Carbon Steel knives are HRc 56-58. Excellent cutlery at bargain prices!

I highly recommend them.

Whippersnapper: You are correct. Putting a razor sharp edge on it too the better part of 1 1/2 days, but it was worth it. It's a beast! It's essentially a dagger. It has enough body to perform well in the kitchen and in the field.

For $13.96 shipped to my Post Office Box, it was well worth them money. I'm planning on buying more Old Hickory knives for kitchen use. Inexpensive, holds a wicked edge, and look great after they attain a patina.

I perused a website called USA Knifemaker and found a sheath for the knife. (It costs more than the knife)! This would be a perfect mate for the Sticker.

This should prove to be a great knife for carrying with the James Armory "Rockola" M1 Carbine I am planning to buy in October. (They're a great Carbine, but run $1300.00).

the dadly and green river were common trade knives during the rocky mountain fur trade era from 1815 to 1840.
it also can e listed as a ''METIS'' STYLE OF KNIFE

The METIS is a single edge knife. The DADLEY seems more like the "Sticker". At $9.97 + shipping, how could I go wrong? Dad always liked the Old Hickory "Skinner" knife. (I'll confess that I like it too). I am considering an 8" "Slicer" as well as a "Skinner" for kitchen use.

Mr. Tryker is indeed right on the money. The Green River was usually a larger knife for basic camp chores and the Dadley was smaller,kind of the 'every day carry' of the Frontier

Me too Terry,although not a heavy knife I feel a guy could survive with one of these. Good carbon steel holds and takes a good edge.
For the dollar,these Old Hickory knives are the best. Good steel,simple and well made in the USA.
