Benny,

I don't own any custom switchblades (yet), but for what I have seen of their prices it actually seems a bit low. When I checked, it was at 550 with the reserve met. The only strange thing is that the maker wasn't cited.

I think it looks good. You can tell the blade and frame and backspring are factory though. My question though is who's the maker and why the ommission. If I made it I would list myself as maker. Strange

I'm not sure, but i think Picklokpat makes and sells his own customs. His work looks alot like Nemo's.

Yeah- I think its nice... but the maker is pat from all i can tell and while he may be good...Its a customized factory pic... Ive seen Nemos stuff like this go for 250-350...and hes well known... maybe pat is and I just dont know him... but 550 seems high to me... and I know the reserve was at around 150- 200...

I'd say that knife is way overpriced because look at the blade steel your getting. He does remind you of Nemo and a tiny bit of Lee. Where is Lee anyway come to think of it. I im going to check out whose bidding on it. Maybe lost his mind is back.

Benny,

You are right about LCR(while we are on the topic of custom switchblades), I hope all is well with him.

Help me understand the situation. Looking at the knife, I thought it was a made from scratch custom. That is why I thought the price was so low. If it was from LCR, Burn etc., someone would be very lucky to get it for twice the price. If it is a customized factory picklock, then what knife could have been used as a starting point other than a Frank B? Or, are you suggesting that a factory swing bolster was used? Either way, given the taper of the body, a lot of work must have gone into the customization.

Well... I guess I was mainly looking at the blade... It looks straight out like a factory 420 stainless bayo... I may just be looking at mine to much  And I dont know about the body, but I figured it was a factory body that had a taper added. The other thing is that his other knifes listed are all heavily customized factory pics and mikovs... so maybe I assumed
Definitely alot of work... and dont get me wrong... its a great looking knife... and if he made it from scratch thats a reasonable price.
I guess the basic question is
Is this guy building from scratch or not.
Hmmm... maybe Ill just send him an email or better yet, send him an invite over here to talkblade.

8)
ive seen a few examples of PICKLOKPATS work,
here and there.{not with live eyes}

very custom, but kind of dark.

something like that ever comes before a jury
and the owner will surely be viewed adversely. :(

best kept under-glass methinks.

i do however especially like the skullbutton he uses. 8)

i saw that one too, i must say the filework on the liners looks nice, and quite intricate - that's not easy...maybe this guy was one of the people who took mr nemo's picklock project on knife101!?!

Pat is doing some great knives!!.....I am glad he is doing well on his prices too.......I don't know if you guys have noticed...but there has been a huge decline in custom knives the last 6 months or so....I think a few of the other guys are going what I went through.....not enough time to make what I want...and just trying to live our day to day life....and trying to make money with switchblades can be difficult....say a knife like pat did took 20-30 hours from start to finish....say you get 350-500 for it....it is about the same you would make working at a fast food joint.....so that brings you to two choices....either go full time like Burn did and try to make a go at it ..(hopefully he is selling enough knives to feed the family).....or just do them when you have time and only sell one or two when you need the cash to make more.....and work a regular job to pay the bills ...which doesn't allow you much time for knives.....I am working on starting my own business here in Vegas to pay the bills..and if it works..I should be able to get back in the shop and play with knives again... :D ....I did the 101 class for a couple of reasons....I knew I would never be able to keep up with the demand for customs...so we needed more people to do them...and it looks like it worked.....I see at least 4 people that have done some great stilettos..and are working on more ....like Pat...hopefully prices will go up just enough to get some more people selling them...... .......anyways enough of my rambling....sorry.I haven't been on the forum too much lately.....Nemo

A little suggestion. Since your in Vegas make the buttons or inlays out of gambling stuff. Like a small inlay of a royal flush or the button could be a small die or casino chip etc. Then find the winning highrollers and say have I got a combination good luck charm and investment for you. You never know. Just a thought I'm sure you already have thought of it but what the hell.
