Halo III Clone?

Post by BladeLover »

Has anyone had any experience with the Tactical Halo III clone? The one I ordered yesterday supposedly has a 3-7/8" black 154CM SS blade and internal cocking lever (9-1/4" overall length). It appears to look like the real thing in the pic, but looks (as we know) are often deceiving. Anyway, I'll report back when the thing arrives and let you know whether it's a reasonable purchase for less than 25% the price of the real deal or a POS.

the OTF clones i have are really quite poor. toys and not much more.
i have a S&W clone, and a dalton-style. they're so bad, that if the handles are screwed tight, they dont open. the handles must actually have about 1/8" gap between them to function, that's obviously my biggest complaint.

Halo III Clone

Post by BladeLover »

Thanks much for the reply, Gonzo. I sus  pected that the clones are probably not the greatest, but I am a glutton for punishment. The 400.00 sticker on the real Halo III was out of my league right now, so I guess I'll get something (a toy) remotely resembling my 80 bucks worth and chock it up to experience. If I am delightfully surprised (which I seriously doubt) I will let you guys know.

Clones are good to impress your friends but thats about it. Some of them are not worth it, sometimes you might get lucky and get a decent one.
Recently i acquired a couple of clones that had cast metal for blades, real piece of s**t. :x

POS Clones

Thanks, Razor. Yes, I agree. I have several non-auto clones that are tolerable, but also have bought some junk I am ashamed to be seen with. Part of the dues for being a knife nut as I am, I guess.

i've purchased clones that i've been happy with, so don't get me wrong... there are definitely some out there that are much better than others.

Just curious, where did you find your halo 3?
please PM me with info, as i'd like to take a look at it. I'm also thinking of getting one of the same type.

The way i see it, you get a feel for a certain knife without blowing $400
A cheapass "Milano" got me started on autos, now i'm buying Damascus Microtechs, F. Beltrame picklocks, customized Mikovs, etc...

clones are sorta like the "Stepping-stone knife".. they lead to more expensive addictions :D

That's a bad case of hiccups you've got there..... I'm told slowly drinking a glass of water gets rid of 'em

Best wishes

I think our new friend has seen the light. I suggested he try to cancel the order, or just return the $20 clone for a refund, then buy off BA.

I'm sure he'll let us know how he makes out.

Apparently he had not known of our pals at BA. I feel as if i've done my good deed for the week :D

Repeat after me 100 times. The Chinese will stamp anything you ask them to on a blade. You will not I repeat will not get 154CM or for that matter ATS-34 the only thing you will get for your $10 clone is cheap steel with expensive stamps. Look at other production knives and customs that use those steels and look at the prices. Take the clones for what they are clones right down to the stampings.
