That was really used for the finishing blow after the boar was lying half dead from the dogs and whatever else it was hit with.Usually back then the rich and royalty had hunting swords Pretty unsportsman like if you ask me. Now Larry Harley a well known custom maker conducts wild boar hunts and gives each participant a Battle Bowie he forged which you get to keep. The hunt consists of the knife period. Larry is a great guy always putting on classes and such in forging etc. He is also the size of a small mountain. I'm not sure what he charges but it includes food and lodging down in Tenn. If you need more info or are interested I can put you in touch with him.
