Manufacturing the neoCzen Camp knife: work in progress…

Post by giannip68 »

In this topic you can see all the phases to produce the neoCzen camp knife.

With the help from some users neoCzen Forum has developed an idea to produce a camp knife, this is the first 2D drawing

Molletta has developed the 3D drawings and all the renderings

Once again the preferred steel for such kind of knives is Calmax for blades and black and green micarta for handles.
Unfortunately the only format available is in thick billets.
It will be "sliced" down to 9 mm plates

Sawing machine is working on the block of Calmax

After the cutting operations.

All the plates were been laser cut in order to obtain the blade Profile.

Next step will be the CNC grinding.

More Manufacturing information in a short time

Everybody that are interested in this knife do not hesitate in asking informations.
It will be ready within the last days of December or January 2010.

On a Camp Knife :? :?: :?:
It would just "get in the way"
Everyone knows my "love of guards" [in general  ] but they are totally inappropriate on a camp knife
The "cutouts" on the handle [under the scales] are a very thoughtful feature. They both lighten it and give it a weight forward balance to improve chopping
Extremely well designed :!:

i like it something that would be handy would be a lanyard hole on the choil, also a wire breaker on the back of the blade a 1 1/2 - 2'' from the tip it's also handy as a pot lifter.

The only thing wrong with a pot lifter ? It encourages sticking the knife in a fire :?
This is NEVER any good for the temper, and usually it is bad
I like the knife the way it is
Lanyard hole ?
I like them [but never use them]

i don't believe lifting a pot out of the fire is going to effect the temper on the blade, i've done it for years with out a problom, i use a lanyard all the time, it comes in quite handy for control when bushcrafting. when carring a large heavy blade like that the addition of a lanyard around your arm for support when choked up and using the blade tip for finesse work makes a big differance.

The real danger of detempering is, people who cant resist "stirring the coals" while removing the pot
A clue that some temper has been lost ?
It doesn't hold an edge [especially at the tip] "like it used to"

The last elections PROVE that you must always consider it
The very few elections being held today are being watched with much concern by BOTH parties
Expect the left to lose the governors race in Virginia but if they lose New Jersey, the left will KNOW 2010 will be a BAD YEAR
