I almost bought an American Derringer (Alaskan), in 45-70. But after I read a rather long posting on a gun forum, I changed my mind. The writer talked about how his wrist and forearm felt like they vaporized. I kick myself for not saving it....The way the writer explained everything he went through from shooting one round, kept me laughing for some time. It's what nightmares are made of....

Colt Woodsman Sport, 3rd style, 4" barrel, is always in my top 3, the others change from time to time.

Trading wood for rubber grips on my Contender, made the .30-30 and .45-70 much more tolerable. [The .30-30 was never really bad but the .45-70 was a bit much].

I also carry a .45 Colt, mines from Taurus.

I have several in .45 Colt [Ruger, Astra, Uberti, American Derringer, Contender etc.], but my Taurus Tracker. is the new .17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire. [The nic-name "Hummer" is catching on for the .17].

I look forward to the Wandy going on the auction block. One is nice...2 is better. How is the condition of this knife?

What can I say? It happens. I don't know if it's American culture, male culture, or just human nature, but many of us seem to have a fondness for firearms.
