Oerla knives

Post by Twobit »

Does anyone know anything about Oerla brand knives? I'm looking at an attractive tanto fixed blade for edc.. Price is very reasonable. Features are outstanding. Just wondering if anyone has a blade from them and what you think of it. Thanks for any insight.

Hadn't heard of them till today to be honest Luke .

Typed in the name and had a look and they make some really nice looking knives, folders and fixed blades at reasonable prices.

Theres a few I would really like if I could buy em so if you do get one post it here mate and give your opinions on it .

Ian, I certainly will do that, mate. I sent the link for the one I've got my eye on to my son so he might get his mum to order it for Father's Day. Not very subtle, I know, but it gets me something I'm sure to like.

I purchased a Kiridashi from them quite some time ago with the intent to use it to throw and just general utility. Cheap, Chinese ( obviously), but definitely not crap. It performs well, but it's definitely not a refined blade. For the $20 it costs, I have no real issues.

The reviews on the eBay page are very good. Both for the knives and the seller.

Got my Father's Day gift today and I'm very impressed with the knife. The sheath is well made and holds the knife securely. I'm not thrilled with the belt clip. I intend to take the matter up with the company as it came shipped directly from them. Couldn't get a good photo of the knife in the sheath to upload.

Here's a picture of the knife in the sheath. I used someone's tip about taking a screenshot of the photo to make it up loadable.

Thanks, Ian! The grip feels very good in my hand whether forwards or reversed. Good heft, very sharp and good carrying options. The company did send me a replacement belt clip, but I already epoxied the spacers in place on the original one. As long as only wear a 1-1/2" belt there's no issue. That's my normal width of belt anyway.

I own an Oerla knife myself, and for the price, it’s been pretty impressive. The tanto blade is sharp and has held up well for everyday use. I’ve been happy with it for the money, so if you’re after a good budget option, I’d say go for it.
