Knife Value

Post by toots »

Is there any way you could give me an estimate on the value of the knife in the picture? It has written on the blade
Carl Everts
Solingen Merscheid.
The handle has a wood grain look, dark brown color and a brass looking piece between the handle and blade.
It was my Grandfather's and he passed away in 1983. I don't know how long he had it before then.

Merscheid is a district [or suberb] of Solingen.
The knife is typical of thousands [millions]? of lowcost knives that were imported from there, in the 50s-60s.
Value [at auction] is whatever a bidder is willing to pay.[usually disappointing]
If a couple of bidders "had one, when they were kids" and lost it, the bidding can get serious

i agree with Tryker. that sentimental value by far surpasses any dollar amount that could be placed on it. looks like a really nice knife though. looks like it'd be a comfortable grip. i'd definatly hang on to it if i were u.

I agree, I'd hang on to it !
But, he did ask for a price
So - $5 and up, depending on who really, "has to have it"
