New MIKOV autos available...

Post by tanto »

Hi guys,

Maybe you remember the thread "Mikov change" where I asked you for your ideas how should Mikov improve their production. Well some of your ideas finally came true....

Better steel: Mikov now uses RWL-34 steel for some of their blades. The blades are marked RWL-34 and numbered. I have fist 10 pieces (numbers 1-10). They have the exclusive grind, fileworked backspring and blade. RWL-34 is the hardest component of the damasteel Mikov uses - with HRC up to 61. The price is 50.00 USD over the exclusive knives with regular blade. That includes new style of sheath.

Also all new damascus and RWL knives have thicker liners...

awesome david-
Is this going to be a permanent change from the old steel or a different line (regular, rwl 34 and damascus)?
Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.

I kinda been draggin' my feet about about a new Mikov,
Been watching Tanto's listings, waiting for something to "spark"
my interest anew and just buy one.

Damascus is soooo pretty.
The real thing, folded over and over. Not the billet jazz...... :P

Thanks Man,for bringing Czech-steel to the menu. 8)

It will be just another line... We want to keep the cheaper ones too...

As for swing-guards... I do not know. they were made about 80 years ago (I have the old catalogs) but I bo not think they will return...

You are welcome... but the damascus (RWL34) is actually Swedish powder damascus (it is folded but by BIG machines) and the regular steel used on Mikovs is from Germany :)...

RWL-34 appears to be VERY similar to ATS-34 with the addition of a "touch of" vanadium and minus a bit of phosphorus and sulpher???? It should be excellent :!: :D
[sulpher in ATS-34???? doesn't impress me if that's right] :?
The analisys on RWL-34 appears "tighter" [less variation] :)

I am trying to order the Leverletto kits for weeks now and it seems that our friends in Italy are busy updating their price lists....

As for the RWL-34 - Vagrant is absolutely correct. It is ATS-34 close competitor and should be slightly better...

Tanto
Would you be interested in selling a photocopy of your old Mikov catalog?
I would love one for my reference library!
