Heads Up: Walt's 23cm

Post by Corvus »

I know some of you are anxiously awaiting the latest run of Walt's 23cm half-grinds...well, they're heeere. "Here" being PVK at the moment. No mention of 'em yet on the Latama site. I have a Brazilian horn on the way.

I talked by email with Walt last night/today as I ordered 2 from him in advance. He mentioned they should be on site by the end of the week. I purchased a Brazilian B & W and a Rams Horn model. Should arrive tomorrow or Thursday. Will be posting pics (of course).

Is their a black acrylic in this run? I am in great need of a classic black acrylic.

I’m not sure what rams horn looks like on a knife, but I bet it’s interesting.

I hope they (Beltrame?) did a good job on this run. In my admittedly limited hands-on experience with the last batch of 28cm dagger and half-grinds, they were typically very tight and straight, but some had unacceptably large (between 1 and 2mm) gaps between one liner (usually the front/left) and the backspring where the spring had been peened/angled to allow the locking tap to intersect with the recess in the blade spine. I know that you'll almost always see light between liner and spring on these classic Italian knives, but a few of these were ridiculous. :|

Walt has them in stock. He's having trouble getting them on his site.
Call him at 631-668-5995.

Another home run. I just placed my order. Can you post a picture of the side/liner? They are supposed to be thicker then normal.

Thanks, do the liners look any thicker than norm? That is pretty cocobolo. I like the contrast

To my eye they look thicker on these 9s than the 11s I have.

Cocobolo is the new 9” model, the horn is 11.
