Where to buy stiletto parts?

Postby Jeffinn » Thu Sep 28, 2017 9:54 pm

I know that Roasdside Imports and a handful of other their related companies are problematic to deal with. So where can an aspiring knife builder go to acquire his needed parts (I'm talking about stiletto parts, bolsters etc.). And yes, I know that I can make these parts by hand if needed.
I've looked online for the past week and am unable to find anyone who sells stiletto parts other than the sites related to Roadside Imports. For the most part stiletto parts suppliers seem to be non-existent.

Just buy cheap/broken Italian knives and use the parts.
Roadside's stuff is Chinese anyway.

Thanks! I just grabbed those (not sure why but those never showed up on the SD website when I went there, I check a couple of times each day).

directknifesales has bulk wholesale lots of stilettos for sale... i would warn you that chances are most of them won't work, but if you're taking them apart anyway, then, well... have at it!

Thanks Bill. I'm working on cutting a pair of brass liners for a manual knife and am hoping to round up a pair of bolsters to use. I've got some metal coming to try creating my own back spring for this manual knife (and possibly a blade).I read a bunch of your advice in the SD forum pertaining to heat treating and tempering metal springs. Looking forward to learning some new techniques.

I had bought all the parts needed for several 11" stilettos from one of the Maniago makers several years back because there were several people that said that they wanted them but when I got them no one seemed interested any more. I found this pinned together, haven't located the bolsters but think that they are around here somewhere.
I think that I got rid of the other pieces in a trade so reasonably sure that there are only the pieces for the one knife.
The blade is not sharp, it is barely more than a blank, oh, and not sure where the safety is, probably with the bolsters.

Is this the sort of thing that you were looking for?

Yes Marco, that's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for.
Send me a PM and let me know what you want for them (if you're interested in selling).
Thanks!

Thanks. I saw that one earlier but I'm not sure the price is right for a unique fixer upper opportunity.
