FOUR SHARKS TO CHOOSE FROM

Post by Markco the Mad otter »

The Sharks are made by Leandro Spadon in Maniago, Italy for the Dolphins.
These are 28cm over all length (11") , 186 grams and the blades are a hefty 5mm thick
These all have Brazilian horn scales.
Dolphins are two men that have gone together and have various knife makers make knives for them. Some, like the Shark is their own exclusive design.
The two that make up the Dolphins are Lucio De Bon and Francesco Maiani.
I'll offer these knives at the same price as the last one $225 each shipped. Further discount on multiple items .
AND WITH EVEERY PURCHASE.....A FREE LUMP OF COAL!!!

These two remain.
There is a little blade movement in both. Price adjustment.

Just received my 2 Sharks, and I'm very satisfied. Opening is not lightning-fast, but is perfectly acceptable. Fit is much tighter than run-of-the mill Italian stilettos. Blades and backsprings are a beefy 5mm. Beautiful polished scales. Tips sit deep in blade channels when closed. There is a lot to like about these pieces, and I plan to buy more.

I will add that the Mad Otter is a decent guy -- honest and straightforward, and easy to work with. Look forward to more business with him.

The N&N List revealed that I have been Very Good this past year, which disqualified me from receiving the coal.

UPDATE ---

Suddenly one of the Sharks will not open fully.... opens about 3/4 and that's it. Not just sometimes -- but every single time. Tried a little light oil in the hinge but no effect.... neither better or worse.

There seems to be an issue with the release button mechanism. Sometimes it seems completely blocked, and will not depress at all. I believe that some improperly functioning part of the release process is affecting the deployment of the spring.

I am now saddled with a $200+ knife that stopped working on the second day. Not happy. Notified seller; no reply yet.

The knives are truly beautiful; they look gorgeous. And I'm happy with the other one. But for the price you pay for the Sharks, they should be absolutely problem-free. Otherwise, what are you paying all that money for?

Just to hazard a guess, maybe the spring moved and is no longer properly seated. I had a knife that was behaving the same way. Sent it for repair to someone qualified and that turned out to be the culprit.

Sorry that I did not see this post before but I feel as though I must say here that I did respond to Button Man's email the same day that it was sent which was the same day that he posted here. I work a full time job and generally don't use my phone while I am at work so I didn't see his email until later in the afternoon.
I am never happy when someone has any issues with anything that they got from me.
I asked if he wanted to send it back and he did not. He wants to wait until I can get more and perhaps switch knives.
Out of the 12 of these knives that I originally had this is the only one that has developed a problem and when I contacted where they come from I was assured that out of the run non of the others has had this issue.

The other two that I still have do have some wobble in the blades as I mentioned and I offer them at a discounted rate.
I am still waiting for more knives from Italy but he and I have been in contact with each other since the beginning. Not sure why he didn't mention that.

Yesterday I received a message that 6 more of these knives have been made available to me and I sent Button man a picture of the knives via email yesterday 1/14 but have not yet heard back from him.

If the knife is returned to me I will either refund his money or have the knife sent to someone that has done work fr me in the past. Either way If the knife is returned to me I will have it fixed.

I'm posting the pictures of the ones that I can get when I find out what he wants to do.
These may become available.
