What the hell is the matter with people?

Post by JerrBear »

-Excerpt from The Fresno Bee, Aug. 24, 2015

"Schools too focused on testing, poll says

A majority of respondents - 64 percent - said too much emphasis has been placed on testing, and a majority also said the best way to measure the success of a school is not through tests but by whether students are engaged and feel hopeful about the future."

Yeah, most of today,s students feel hopeful that a liberal democrat will get in power again in the future and they can suck up all the free goodies from the government, so why worry about testing.

This type of thinking is a product of the late 1960's, early 70's cultural "revolution" that gripped this and other countries. "If it feels good, do it!" As a result, feelings about things became more important than the reality of things. Judge Bork wrote that while in the past, wild ideas possessed by one generation would even out by the influence of past and succeeding generations. However because the shift in thinking was so massive, and as the 60's and 70's generations grew up and assumed positions of power in politics, media and academia, he was doubtful that the described trans-generational stabilization would be effective. This is but one example of the ludicrousness of this way of thinking. I am super engaged but not feeling hopeful here.......

That's right- Keep the people's expectations lower and lower so when they get a little check each month because their IQ is too low to operate the fryer at Burger King.

It will never happen but would love to see our next president weed out a few thousand liberal superintendents and administrators so we can have at least have some kind of future for the children.
Just guessing but I think what Jerry is talking about is most likely elementary through 12 grade schools. Don't even let the students have a chance, squeeze them through not knowing basic math or have any reading and comprehension skills.

here in mass they have whats called ''the mcas'' its testing at certain grade levels, if the student doesn't pass, they don't graduate. so what there doing is teaching these kids just what they need to pass the test.
i gotta tell ya i don't think 80% of these kids could find there way out of a paper bag with signs with arrows pointing in the right direction !!!
