Ain't got a clue....

Don't know much about this beast but I've had it for years and like it.
Brass fittings, carbon steel blade, bone handle, and 2 piece wood sheath lashed with leather. Unmarked.

It kind of looks like a kriss bolo without the kriss blade or wood shealth?
The wings on the handle look like some of the large balis? It's nice Roman

Since we are all guessing, I'll guess it's Spanish/Mexican

Good possibility. If I was selling it I'd call it an "Midieval Cloak Dagger"
Guard is wrong for an "Arkasas Toothpick" but another seller might call it one. THAT name originally meant "Bowie" but that terminology evolved quickly to mean a large Dagger NOT a "Bowie". Today only a real purist, talking to another purist, would call a Bowie an Arkasas Toothpick [but it is historically correct] .
If not made by a craftsman here, I suspect some sort of Hispanic source

Heheh, strange but this blade was acquired the same day, from the same man, as the dagger...it's more my idea of the "Arkansas Tootpick"

The best response to added confusion is increased speculation

The rather elaborate guard and ferrule/barrel [between guard and handle] plus the lack of a ricasso/choil between the blade and guard take it out of the "Toothpick" catagory and make it some kind of dagger - but, what kind of dagger :?: Beats me, I have NO clue :? I strongly suspect a Hispanic or Mediterranean influence but that covers a lot of territory [including Filipino].

it looks like Mr Carroll's knife may have had extended guards on it at one time but were ground off,
I don't think you can say it CANT be an Arkansas Toothpick because of X Y Z after looking at only one picture.
