Fallschirmjaeger Gravity Knife

Post by texans123 »

Here is a nice one I've had a long time. Basically unused except for the minor sharpening. Great cross-grain on the blade and nice maker mark, and very nice handles etc.

Nice Gravity Knife Texans 123. The wood has survived well. I've exchanged pics with Ian(Grav Knife) here in the forum. He will surely see your post. He likes these Gravity/Utility knives.

Here is a picture of my SMF. It has the original Luft marked lanyard. Got is at the MAX show probably 15 years ago now.

Very nice, and having the Luft marked lanyard is great. :D

My favourite gravity knives. :) 8)

I love both examples shown here ....that's a real minty example texans123 and the wooden scales are beautifully grained
The crossgraining clearly visible is also sweet making that blade a mint plus possibly never used example .
Add that crisply stamped stick bird with the 5 in his belly on the marlin spike and you have a very nice knife indeed .

Bruce ..I have seen your knife previously and its in fine condition aswell...but that lanyard is the real trick ...these originals are very highly sought after nowadays .
Nice dark grips and good full blade but looks like it has seen a little more action.than texan123s example..

I would be a very happy man indeed to own either of these 2 examples if you two ever feel the need to part with them.

Both are in so much better condition than my rather badly sharpened (with loss of blade shape) and heavily used example by Weyersberg that I picked up very reasonably some years back now.

Thanks for showing them ,pieces of history and super ww2 war kit from the German Reich as per usual.

I love my Militaria

Thanks Ian and Bruce. Agree with Ian, that lanyard is so nice to have. I'd love to find a lanyard that matches up with my example...maybe one day but you rarely see them for sale. So correct, these are great pieces of Militaria. And I had never handled one of these until I bought this one. Very impressed with the size, weight and quality for sure.
Cheers -

Texas123,
Have you collected any of the dress daggers of the Luftwaffe?

Yes, I had a really nice 2nd pattern Eickhorn for a number of years. But recently I sold it back to the dealer I bought it from. I needed to fund another interest and it was the odd-man out unfortunately.

You also collect TR daggers?

Yup, would go to the MAX Show every year. Started with Daggers and Bayonets. Moved to helmets and Belt Buckles. Have everything I ever purchased for investment purposes.

both are nice examples. about 30-35 years ago i remember thumbing thru a book of these knives all with customized scales done buy the soldiers that they were issued to. something to pass the idle time away with i guess.

I've never seen any customized. The wood scales lend themselves to being carved. That would be neat. When I started collecting I probably passed on stuff like that as they weren't "as issued". They are the ones with the most character.

Heres a rare takedown example by Emil voos i found whilst searching for lanyards for these a while back.
I love this blade mark and there are a few variants of fallschirmjaegers to collect

Also heres a picture of my holy grail knife by George Ibberson
(I would donate organs if they were any good) for this knife.a
These are rare as hens teeth and i am unlikely to find one by ibberson like this any time soon.
I love the scales and they were admittedly stolen designs from knives taken from shot down pilots .

I love the sound of those carved examples.
I have seen initials and swastikas plus a few unit marked examples over the years ...always add to a military piece imho although i am searching for a better bladed example than my Weyersberg 1st model.

Great knives great history and just cool as
Heres my oversharpened Non takedown Weyersberg with a modern Bund ofw and a knockoff eickhorn that nearly took off 2 finger tips of mine a few years ago whilst trying to open it .....ultra sharp .
I am still looking for a 1955 model in time.

Sorry if the photos come out in the wrong order.

Great thread i really love German and French gravity knives.

Hope your all well
