Re: Swordcanes
Class 3 weapons are modern firearms. ATF has no authority to rule on knives. They aren't firearms.

Re: Swordcanes
OK, it must have been a local restriction for Maryland or Oklahoma.

Lance
Check out Japanese sword canes.
There are some magnificent ones.
My Wilkinson is about as good as they got in the 1940s ,swaine and brigg are a rich persons tailors in London, but Victorian examples the sky's the limit.
Couple of pics of a japanese cane with lacquer to simulate cherry wood, the real item that was immortalised in Zatoichi the blind swordsman.
Apologies for picture quality.
I also have canes with drinking testtubes sprung into the handle..
I hope you get one for your mum mate,I keep mine for my twilight years, muggers beware..
Bill ,your a bad influence, just got to have an umbrella sword, that's just cool.
All the best

Re: Swordcanes
I am interested in sword canes but unfortunalty I don't own any... The vintage ones in a good condition are expensive, you also need a lot of space to store them. The craftmanship on some of them is just incredible. Here is one with stag handle that I found in internet

"Class 3" weapons are firearms, not knives. ATF has no authority to regulate knives, unless combined with a gun.

Re: Swordcanes
Not quite a sword cane but rather a couple of riding crops(supposedly for camels)a friend of mine who was in the Merchant Marine picked up in Egypt about 40 years ago.Handles are some type of stone carved in the image of Nefertiti.Probably tourist items as the details aren't particularly good.Unique nevertheless.

Re: Swordcanes
I only have one sword cane, its purty cool though. It has a carved handle of a skeleton I think its some kind of bone from the cracks in it. The blades is a tanto style stamped on the front UNITED with a design behind it and on the back UC 727 STAINLESS STEEL TAIWAN . VERY SHARP VERY THICK . I think its cool as heck ,Ive had it several years but dont think Ive ever posted it.

Re: Swordcanes
I like that a lot redeye.
Love the tanto blade and skeleton ,looks more usable than a pigsticker.Wish they still sold that one.
Was this new when purchased as it looks really well made.
Vagabund that folding guard example is a stunner, these cost a fortune if and when they come up for sale.
Thanks for posting these,i love many types of weapons not just switchblades .

Re: Swordcanes
What Ian said! I have a Canadian artist that carves a lot of stag very reasonably priced, but nothing so elaborate and requiring that much material removal. I'm going to send him those pictures and ask if it can be duplicated. I'll report back when I know.
