Klassic Kris

Post by natcherly »

We went to the Asian Art Museum recently and saw some terrific 200 - 300 year old knives from Indonesia and Thailand. These daggers, which are called "kris", were in several shapes, not all of them with the sinuous blades we associate with that name. All I had was my crappy old cell phone, just as well as photography is frowned upon there. These are all ceremonial knives, not made for actual use in battle, but I think they are more than able to produce some nasty cuts.....

Interesting handles on those. I recall seeing something similar a few years ago on the History Channel...back when they actually aired history related programs.
Is the hammer-looking thing a sheath or a skull softener?
