Studied Shorin-Ryu karate and iaido for 20 years with sensei Watanabe here in Montreal. One of the best karate instructors from Okinawa i have seen.
Received 20 odd stitches on my back from a iaido demo, that katana was extremely sharp. :D
Own 2 pretty old katanas from around the 17th century. Bought them in Japan a few years ago from an old sword maker. Paid aprox. $2000us a piece back in the early 80's.

COOL,
friends-and-i still get together sometimes, and with wooden swords
have melee in the snow...big hats&gloves a-must.

much less dangerous and hella-fun!

sutures suck! broken fingers at sub-freezing temp. builds character you know :!:
The first step in avoiding a trap,
is knowing of its existance...................

Has someone be removing my posts?

I currently study Judo. But I have a few months of the same style of Karate as Razor, kickboxing and some informal Filipino knife training.

I went to the "I'm standing the other guy isn't and here comes the law school of street fighting" but my Girlfriends daughter is a Black Belt in Karate, 1st Dan [is that right?] next time I see her I'll ask what school. I know she helps teach the newbies while continuing her studies.

You're correct Vagrant. 1st dan is the first level, now she has 9 more to go.
I myself have earned a 4th dan in Shorin-Ryu, :D :D had to work hard for it.
I don't train anymore because of a bad knee, but still teach to help out my sensai.

I believe Jess studies Shaolin Kempo, she loves it and spends lots of time at the Dojo. She loves teaching younger kids and they all love it when she teaches them. It's amazing how fast and co-ordinated she's become.

Any form of martial arts is a great discipline and builds character and coordination. Got both my kids into it and they love it.
