Please help Identify this

Post by bengalfanz »

Here we go again...got another item I came across that I'd love to get info on. I don't know if this was a ceremonial type sword, a wall hanger in Uncle Buds bar or an actual old weapon. The handle is quite heavy and seems to be made of brass. Seems fairly ornate with lots of dents (or as I like to call them "battle scars). The blade is quite rusted as you can see. The length of the blade is 23 1/4" long. Tell me this a long lost sword that once belonged to William Wallace as he trained as a youth and it's worth millions of dollars... but the truth would be much better...

Thanks again guys!

I am no expert but these "dents"/"dings" can be a part of casting and the colorations can be altered to look much older.
To my knowledge, not many handles were cast in solid brass.

Very cool piece none-the-less.
There are many other members here with much more experience in indentifying these type of things.

Looks like there are numerous casting flaws in the hilt of that piece, but what do you expect from a 700 year-old sword that once belonged to William Wallace and that he trained with as a youth. :!:

Well you asked me to tell you this and I love to oblige. In truth it qualifies as a small wall hanger or large letter opener. The hilt may have scap value if it is indeed solid brass.
