Would anyone else like to see a true "working" Italian?

Yes, an Italian "working" automatic would be refreshing!

No, these knives are solely for display, or self-protection.

I don't care whether or not they make better knives.

I've had 5 or 6 knives BROKEN at the flea-market because people pushed the button and closed them
IF they tried to close a BO/C without pressing the button - they would break something of THEIRS

Exceptions to that are the old American button o/c knives, and of course the Rizzuttos. Most are not the stoutest locking and can wear.

Is there any way that we can suggest to BOTH SKM and Francesco Beltrame to retool and ressurect these knives? With modern steels, thes could prove to be a less expensive alternative to FAR more expensive domestic manufacturers. (Benchmade, Dalton, et. al.)

Perhaps we could inspire the Maniago crowd to slightly undercut them! All would benefit, manufacturer and consumer alike! Remember: Compertition is the lifeblood of the business world!

Just a thought,

Scott,

I admire your enthusiasm. Rest assured, however, that over the past several years, while you have been involved in whatever you have been involved in, many of us here have been pushing for the same things that you are championing, such as better quality, more variety etc., etc., etc. We have had some successes. It is not as if you have arrived on this forum to find a gaggle of lobotomized zombies that you can single-handedly lead out of the Valley of Mediocrity. Reading of past posts should relieve you of any such erroneous assumptions.

As I have previously mentioned, if you want to front the tooling cost and otherwise immunize these makers from economic risk, you can get just about anything made you want. Sad to say it is about money...

There are many reasons why upgrades are "iffy"/doubtful :(
They include; finances, labor-pool, and matters best NOT discussed on open forum

I like my stainless steel Campolin and Francesco Beltrame Fishtail Picklocks, But they won't hold a decent edge. I need to replace the blade on my Beltrame with an identical one manufactured from AUS-8 steel. That will make it work.

I appreciate all that answered this thread. Now to get me to a forger/cutler/steelworker that will do the work that I need. Again, I thank you all! :)

Yep, it's just a tad too big for practical purposes!

I guess I'll have to turn to Paul Panak to have a handmade Fishtail Picklock with some decent metal in it.

CONGRATULATIONS!

It only took you 5-1/2 years to come to this conclusion...
