Micarta, etc

Post by crunch »

Can anyone tell me what material micarta is? Stamina? They look like wood to me but...
Also, does anyone have any info on a maker called Jndiana? I am new to switch collecting and trying to sort out all of the styles and makers. Thanks.

It has a phenolic or epoxy resin matrix, reinforced with either canvas, linen or paper, each with an individual look.

Resin

Stamina, Frostwood, Parkerwood, Pakawood, Diamondwood, are laminated wood layers in a resin mixture [epoxy more or less].
Very similar to Micarta.

INDIANA

Post by Vagrant »

No-one has EVER revealed anything about Indiana. I think if they told us they'd have to kill us. This is way higher than TOP SECRET!! I doubt that
anything will force this information out of the good people of Maniago, it's
their sacred duty to keep this secret and even torture wouldn't work.

I am told that Indiana cutlery produces nothing, and is only a distributor.

The plot thickens

Odd to say the least, I heard they make many of the knives we buy from other companies. Perhaps they locate makers that we don't even know exist and market their products, to the people we buy from. Whatever the case the inability to locate and contact them is curious [and annoying].
