Favorite Handle Material?

Post by Lefty »

Hi everyone,
I was just curious as to what the most popular handle material is for switchblade lovers. Mine is a draw between acrylic and light horn.

I recently aquired a real mammoth ivory stiletto, and it has the nicest scales of any in the collection. Acrylic is the most popular? Give me a break!

I just added mother of pearl to the list. Sorry, I'd forgot about that one too. I don't have a knife with m.o.p. but I've started to want a Hubertus with it. They look awesome. To me, acrylic is the poor man's m.o.p. or Ivory. Also, all the color choices makes it one of my favorites.

Bonz, that mammoth ivory sounds awesome. I wish you could post a pic of it!

My favourite handle materials are mammoth and giraffe bone. I've just got some nice green mammoth scales and some beautiful looking giraffe bone too.I'm halfway through customising a 9'' stilletto and a 25cm fish.If all goes well I may soon have two of my favourite handle materials on two of my favourite switches. If it don't go well,I will have two expensive pieces of junk!Well here goes nothing!Cheers the spotlight kid.

Dark Rosewood - Hand rubbed with just the oil from my fingers polishes them up like glass. Beautiful!

Giraffe then mastodon (I only have one of each, but  )

Mr. Lefty,

As soon as I can figure out these digital cameras and computers (naturally there is no instructions with these things) I will post some pic's. Being somewhat computer illiterate, do you have to have a special program to post pic's on the net? I'm all ears.

Best Regards,

I carried a Hubertus springer for years with a rosewood handle. Loved it. I have stag handled ones and they are sweet but maybe a little too nice for use and abuse. My favorite handle material is Bone...like on an old Case pocketknife. I'll take a Hubertus with jigged red bone please.
