can anyone tell me if the "cheap switchblades" are automatic, because i've heard otherwise from more than 1 source.

Of coruse their autos, theres Juts no warranty.

They are automatic and an excellent bargain.
I've never had a bad one in the 9" or 11" size and only one loose and
one very tight bolster with the 13".
I've had more minor problems with the standard ones, [but i've bought a
lot more standard so the comparison may not be valid]. Still I am not
at all reluctant to buy the "cheap ones".
