Sharper Deals auction site gone?
Is Sharper Deals gone? Are they any other knife auction sites around?

SD Forums are still active ( barely) but the auction site has been shut down for now.

Bob moved sharperdeals to Facebook
Re: Sharper Deals auction site gone?
Can you be more specific? Did he move auction site or is the forum itself being transferred to FB.

I believe it’s just the auction/sale site for now.. but that’s a great question
Re: Sharper Deals auction site gone?
Unfortunately, the FB version of SharperDeals isn't much of a sales or auction group. At least, no more than any other switchblade group. I'm not sure what Bob's original plans were for it.

Re: Sharper Deals auction site gone?
Thanks for sharing the information Mike
Too bad, I always enjoyed Chopra’s Sharper Deals auction site, but often wondered what happened.
I bought a nice Leveretto from Bob years ago , and mostly dealt with Rick (AGA’s & Frank B’s) .
AlaJohn always had nice AGA’s. And Bob from the Bronx specialized in NOS from the 70’s
Chopra’ s site churned out some of the finest old school and very rare Italian obsolete SB’s.
Whitehorn mentioned if there were any auctions around ? Are there any other auction sites around
That compares to Sharper Deals and still prohibits cheap Chinese knock-offs ?

Facebook . . . First I heard of this. . .
I'll be joining soon. . .or "Friends request" or whatever. . .
I only bought a few knives on the Auction site.
One of them was a 5mm 10 inch half grind, that I never held. . .
It was for a "Give-away" . . .
Remember those Giveaways . . .Someone got an Instant Collection . . .
Everybody donated something, and there was a drawing. . . and a winner.
The Chopra's helped me find my rare Johnson Smith Company P.I.C. swingguard toggle gravity knife.
I had been looking for that knife since 1965 or so. . .I sent for it. . .and got a 1 cent sale knife instead.
Took me 40 years to find it. . .Bob had one and sold it to me.
Sorry I dropped out of SharperDeals forum.
I had problems logging on, then I got a crappy Laptop in the nursing home., it just got worst.
It was just easier to log onto Talkblade.
There was a LOT of historical information and archival photos on that site.
And it was all very professional. . . You could search for forum strings because they were named well. . .
There was the Tang stamp photo Library.
There were the photo tours of Italian knife shops (vacation and travel photos)
There was the Mascot Bernie Dexter. . .a Betty Page fashion model who posed with knives. . .

Re: Sharper Deals auction site gone?
I hate to hear that but am not surprised because the site had been dead for a while and I could never log back on after forgetting my password. It was once the go-to place for buying and selling antique switchblades. The older Italian knives have gotten harder to find unless you are willing to pay high prices.
Re: Sharper Deals auction site gone?
I hope Bob doesn't make the forum completely disappear, even if we can't post or comment there. There's still 20+ years of knowledge there that is still very valuable.

Re: Sharper Deals auction site gone?
That's a great point, Chris. A search there can answer a wide variety of switchblade related questions (as can a search here).
