Another Otter-Hubertus

Post by Panzerfaust »

I got another Otter-Hubertus in the mail today and this is the large one with clip-point blade which I did not have. The only disappointing thing is the lever is flush with the front bolster which makes it harder to flip up. I have a couple of 1950s knives that have this issue was well. Overall, the quality of these new knives is good and I will probably add another medium sized to my collection at some point. I have four of these now and the small and medium are in my EDC rotation. The newest one I got from Perry Knife Works which has the lowest prices I have seen recently.

Hi Matt,
Very cool set. The stag looks really good. Are the other two ebony? I don’t know which blade style I like more. I think I’d like the middle size for an EDC.

Grind/file an angle on the tip of the lever.
I have put new levers on several of these lately.

Matt - those look very nice, I have been happy with mine. It seems that Otter is taking quality seriously. Tanks for the tip about Perry.

The quality control seems to be better than many of the older knives other than the lever issue with my newest one. Someone in a Facebook group said his has the same problem. I'm just glad to see these becoming plentiful in the U.S. and there are several online dealers who have them. I hope Otter makes the slimline Hubertus again. I was pleased with Perry Knife Works. I ordered it Sunday night and got it Thursday afternoon and there was no charge for shipping.

Jason Perry attends the Mystic show and is a member of the Northeast Cutlery Collectors. He is one the the most honest and best dealer around these days. Nice guy and stands behind his products.

The other two are ebony. The middle size is great for EDC and I also like the small one. If you don't have one, you should consider getting one and Perry Knife Works is located in Massachusetts.

Probably was a weird question but over the years about half the Hubertus knives I have bought came with the green and white boxes and some were just in a plastic sleeve. I was just curious if Otter was doing anything different.

Not my picture but this is what all of the boxes look like. Until Otter, I never got a box with a Hubertus and I have two I bought in Germany.
