PVK Vegas Review

Post by RoyS »

Hi Folks,

I realize that it’s far easier to complain than compliment, so I’m hesitant and somewhat uncomfortable to write this lack-lustre review relating to my recent experiences purchasing from PVK Vegas. But as so many businesses these days seem to care little about you & I as customers, then sharing our experiences remains our only recourse.

I have now ‘two’ knives purchased from PVK that are in my collection and that I’m very pleased with, however..!

On one occasion the knife purchased arrived totally wrong and not the one ordered. It was returned.

The second delivery was non-functioning and again returned.

Recently another order arrived with a crack across one of the scales, now returned and a refund is pending.

This last experience was especially disconcerting, as I took the extra step to (very politely) ask if my order could be 'very carefully' checked prior to shipment, which clearly it was not, hence this latest return.

Aside from the poor service, PVK has never reached out to me to apologies, this has left me feeling that I’m not in any way valued as a customer. We all make mistakes (although in my opinion that’s too many) but it’s not the mistake that’s important, it’s how one handles it, so for that alone I’m disinclined to continue being a PVK customer.

Cheerio,
Roy

I guess I was lucky, I've gotten 3 knives from them with no problems, next time I'll look around before I purchase anything from them.

I've bought quite a few knives from them over the years. Never a negative transaction. I guess things just happen sometimes.

Hi Folks,

I just wanted to follow up on this experience.

A refund did show up on my card, so that's good news.

However, I have heard absolutely nothing following this from PVK, no confirmation that the item was at fault, no apology for their 'oversight' or in wasting my time and effort, no gratitude for bringing this to their attention and promptly returning it.

It would seen on the face of it that they have absolutely no interest in maintaining me as a customer, which is enlightening if nothing else.

Roy

My one transaction with PVK was recent and they exceeded my expectations. I ordered a Campolin Baron through their website and received a call a few hours later. The PVK representative politely informed me that this batch of Barons arrived with the leather pouches but no boxes. I was asked if I wanted to cancel the order. The knife is a flawless example, but then this model is not known to be plagued with defects.

Was considering purchasing from them. After reading your review, I think I’m going to pass. I noticed they’ve really upped the prices on the Frank B’s for some reason. Most of the ones they currently have are over $200.

Hi Mario,

I can understand your concerns. As a longtime specialist professional knife dealer myself, I have learned that reputation and 'real' relationships is everything. I always approach my own work first and foremost as a 'collector' and treat every prospective client as I would wish to be treated myself. After all the only 'power' we have as buyers is to 'share' on forums such as this 'and' to take our business elsewhere.

I hold no ill will towards PVK and can only hope (if they read this) that such experiences will help them improve, after all, they offer some wonderful knives.

Good luck in your collecting mate.

Roy

I never bought from them, but when the Mago OTFs came out, they sold them as made in Italy for $140. Shortly after that, they sold for $50-70 every where else and anyone in the knife business knew from day one they were made in China. That is all I needed to know about them....

I haven't bought anything from them since they moved from Las Vegas but I have made many purchases in the past, mostly Microtechs and Pro-Techs, and never had any issues. I just looked at their site and noticed they raised the prices for Frank B stilettos. However, everything seems to have gone up in price lately. Thanks, Joe Biden!

The long time owner, Josh Burbank, passed away in the last year. I believe his brother now operates the store. They also moved out of Las Vegas. I imagine all this created a little turmoil.
