GOM Switchblade Lever Knives
If anybody can help me with more information about these knives I would be very much appreciative. They are marked "GOM." Is that Italian?
I've had them for over 10+ years. I always liked the way they fire off and the their sturdiness.
Thanks,
Craig

Re: GOM Switchblade Lever Knives
Thanks Sammy,
Do you know who made them in Italy? They seem to be very well built, but I have no idea how they fit on the scale of well-built (not necessarily well-known) for Italian knives? They are beautiful knives, IMO, and I like the fact that I ended up with a red, white, and blue set!
Appreciate your help!
Craig

GOM is either Guido Octavio Massaro or Giovanni Octavio Massaro. Brain farting on what one is the first name.

I have a few and they’re very good knives.

I have a Damascus shell puller lever lock with a stag handle that’s marked INOX GOM, but I think mine is a China clone. It has a screwed in pivot while the rest of the knife is pinned.

Yeah, I think that’s from China.
Where did you get it, if I may ask?

Mario that one is a China COUNTERFIET . When marked with another company name, they are no longer just clones.....The real GOM Italy ones above are well made and useful knives.
Re: GOM Switchblade Lever Knives
My understanding is that many of the Italian leverlocks with the various common stamps were also made by GOM.

Certainly a sweet trio, probably worth three times what they cost you. I acquired a GOM beater of the same vintage as yours a while back, very well used and abused but was still tight and solid. Fired like a cannon, you have money in the bank there.

Massaro is a very good cutler. He makes almost all of the Italian lever locks, including the Leverletto.

Thanks everyone for your responses. There is a good history lesson here, and I've learned quite a lot. I have wondered for many years who or what "GOM" was.
Much appreciated,

Mario,
About 6 years ago, I bought a “Massaro shell puller kit” with a Damascus blade from the now-defunct switchblade kits website. It was sold in parts with no pins.
Mine went together well. I used only pins and I attached jigged mesquite scales made from some scrap that my late father had.
I, of course, have no way of knowing whether Massaro ever sold genuine parts to that company. The blade was unmarked. I added a swedge to the blade because I thought it improved the look a bit! Otherwise, it closely resembles your Sharper Deals knife.
Whatever the origin of the parts, I like how the knife turned out!
