Raimondo Frosolone in horn and some other fun things

Post by phineas999 »

Hey all,

Had a pretty good last 5 months and thought I would share what I got. All are 9 inch

Left to right.
Latama panto. Made in Italy on front, Latama Made in Italy on the back
Latama in a box stamp
Latama Script stamp
Raimondo Frosolone stamped in horn. I'm told this is pretty rare
Unmarked flat guard. This thing is in amazing shape
Unmarked pick lock made in Frosolone
Unmarked pick lock but it does have stainless steel stamped just below the top of the blade.
NFS!
But I hope you enjoy the pics

I say "a pretty good 5 months" is a massive understatement". Great examples and thanks for sharing the photos.

Wow !! Puts most of my flea market finds to shame...! Might I ask a couple Qs about them?

1. Did they all come from the same source?

2. Were they real "finds" that you scooped up for low dough? Or did you have to
shell out more-or-less full value to a seller who was aware of what he had?

Either way, it's a really impressive acquisition in a short period of time!
I'm intrigued by that horn stamp -- never even heard of such a thing.....
Really appreciate seeing the photos of these great knives!

I have actually been very lucky. The guy who has been mentoring me has sold me these over the last 5 months. I have only been collecting for 3 1/2 years. I paid ALOT less than going price for all of them. I think he realized that I would never sell them and they would stay safely in the display case along with my others. I belong to the Gator Club here in Florida so I have access to some fantastic knives.

Your mentor friend is very kind -- when I first started collecting seriously (about 3 years ago) I was fortunate to find a longtime collector
who sold me some very nice pieces at reasonable prices, and I will always be grateful.

What's the story on this Gator Club? How many members? Are there monthly meetings? I sure wish we had something like that around here!
Unfortunately, Nome only has the FFWS Club (Frozen Floating Whale S#it) and it's tough to get all 4 members together on any specific night.....

We have about 15 members that show up consistently to the meetings. We meet every month. Plan the show in January and talk about new shows. Mostly it's a lot of BS'ing and selling and trading knives. lol

"Frosolone is also home to the Museum of Knives, a historical collection of hundreds of items of historical value
donated by enthusiasts and the heirs of the leading scissor and knife manufacturers of the last century.

The Market-Exhibition of Knives and Scissors is held each August in the alleyways of the historical centre,
in the same buildings where the craftsmen’s workshops were once located."

If anyone is planning a trip to Italy, take some photos of the Museum and the Exhibition to post here....!
