Unusual fulcrum lever knife

Post by Mario »

This one was an interesting find. No idea if it’s a manual knife, an assisted or an auto. You can open it two handed with the nail nick and you can also open it automatically with the fulcrum lever which is also the lock to close it. I only paid $18 for it.

When I pressed down on the fulcrum, it first started opening kind of slowly and then it sprung out the rest of the way like an assisted knife. So there’s definitely some kind of spring mechanism that allows it to do that. I cleaned and oiled it a bit and it opens a lot quicker now. There’s no spring action when you open it two handed.

Could it be a dual action manual/automatic or is it an early variation of an assisted knife? Really puzzled as to what you’d call it.

There’s no stampings indicating where it was made (I’m assuming Taiwan or China). “400 STAINLESS” is all it says on the blade.

Wanted to know if any of you have come across one of these before.

It's a switchblade. Sold in the early 2000s, made in China.
They have a weak coil spring, and the backspring hold it closed until it is raised by the lever.

Thanks for the clarification Bill. Got a good deal on it. Had to superglue one of the handle grips back on. It was coming off. It functions perfect now.

As Bill stated China made. I got them for $3 each back in 2000. They made them with a all plastic handle too. There was a guy trying to sell this as Italian a few weeks back asking to a high price.....

They are coil spring operated. I described the function above.
