Re: Monkey image
It is a later Fishtail Picklock AGA Campolin or Frank Beltrame (note the tell-tale curve/arch on the lower bolster).

No, it's an earlier knife. The blade is carbon steel.

Since that is the case, when did they start arching the lower bolster?Bill DeShivs wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 10:15 pm No, it's an earlier knife. The blade is carbon steel.

Re: Monkey image
The earlier Fishtail Picklock (Sicilian) knives had a flat-topped "fishtail" bolsters while the recent (1980s-present) have an arched bottom bolster.
Why is that?

Re: Monkey image
Beautiful knife!! The stamp is very rare. I've seen it on a couple other fishtail picklocks, maybe a stiletto. It was made in the 1950's in Maniago Italy. Maniago used a cottage system to build their knives and I'm not sure if this stamp was ever traced back to a specific maker or shop.Very nice find and good taste from your father in law. Take good care of it.pii
