There sure seem to be a lot of these out there and I think this is the third one I have seen on Gunbroker. The seller states an FFL is not required, but this knife is actually illegal unless previously registered under the National Firearms Act as "Any Other Weapon," according to the BATFE. I wish I knew the story on these and my theory is they were made in the US from knives imported from Japan.

Re: Bazar knife/gun combo
The originals were made in Germany, from German knives.
This one is a Frankenstein. The Japanese blade does not belong on this knife.
And yes, they are NFA items.

Are you sure? It seems like I have seen these that were German and Japanese. I do have a Bazar lever lock that you repaired a few years ago and although not marked Japan, I believe it is Japanese because of the jigged bone scales that look different from the German knives.Bill DeShivs wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 2:08 am The originals were made in Germany, from German knives.

There were Japanese Bazar knives, but no knife/guns.
And the ad is very wrong- no shell puller knives were made in Japan before WW2.

How the hell is he getting away with this? That thing is definitely an AOW under the NFA.
And it was cobbled together from Japanese and German knife parts? Very interesting. So it’s false advertising on top of it as it wouldn’t be an antique. I believe an FFL is required for items that aren’t antiques.
