Grind Works Selling FAKE AKC knives?

Post by Tom19176 »

I get the email from Grindworks ( old BladePlay) and I noticed the 13" model looked like a China counterfeit to me. I looked up the specs and they admit it is made in China ! So does AKC now authorized their models made in China?

https://www.grindworx.com/item--AKC-13- ... ylic--2387

Make sure you click on the FULL specs ad you see made in China !

Hey Tom! I'm amazed they say Country of origin: China...It's my opinion that the original confusion is on the part of Angelo, for calling any of his stilettos AKC. I've had conversations with him more than once, where he has assured me that AKC NEVER produced a classic/traditional stiletto switchblade. BUT! Here he goes, posting this Made In Italy stamped/etched piece on his online store site, as being AKC. Just fuel on the fire of people that own the Asian junk that's marked AKC. I have absolutely NO idea why he's done this!...

I don’t see “Made in China” I do see “from the great country of Italy” (however my wife of over 30 years) always tells me I cant find my ass with my own two hands, after she hides my keys on the key rack. All men out there know they belong on the kitchen counter.

I pulled out my AKC 13 inch which I’m sure was made in China. I think I have had this for about 3 years? This must be a older version with the AKC logo. It does say “made in Italy”.

Talk Blade used to have on the “Board index” a permanent Topic (like for example: Switchblade knives /Deforum with Bill DeShivs / Blade pictures / Buy & Sell ect.) I think it was called “counterfeits" it did have photos comparing the AKC logo(s) Original vs counterfeits. It no longer exists as far as I can tell. I thought it was a handy topic but for some reason it got flushed.

Hey Tom, MY BAD!
I was looking at the “Read More” drop down menu and not the “Show All Specs” drop down menu. That IS somewhat deceiving…… Hey did you see my keys laying around anyplace? :D

Could it possible that some of the Italian makers are farming out to China?

Could it be possible that the wording of the specifications is wrong?

I have this feeling that the stilettos in question ARE Chinese. This is sad because it is getting where you can't get a decent Italian auto anymore.

Damn.

I posted a story on BF about my recent experiences with 2 orders from Grindworx/BHQ. The first order was for a fileworked Frank B. I received the standard without filework in a BAG showing a UPC label indicating it WAS a fileworked Frank B. The second order was for a swinguard Frank B and I received a swivel bolster Frank B, again in a bag with a label saying it was a swinguard. In both cases the brand, scales and size were all correct. At least two other users chimed in with the same story!

My money would be that the LABEL on the website is wrong, like the label on the plastic knife sleeves I received. It's likely keyed wrong or they used a previous knife's database template and didn't wipe out or edit the Country of Origin field.

I'm with Bill on this one, in my opinion, and considering these recent experiences, I would think it far more likely a human input error than AKC outsourcing to China.

Peace. Scott.

Look at the PICTURE in the link I posted. The safety is wrong, pins are wrong, blade grind is off for a Italy knife but spot on for a China one.....I saw the picture in a email sale ad I was sent and that made me read the specs as it said CHINA to me. It was then I read China in the specs. Scott I am on the FB site and read your story which was interesting too.....
