Soviet Prison Knives: Unique carry pieces, or collectors oddities?

Post by Fishtail Picklock »

I have been looking at these knives and have wondered if they're worth the "pocket time". Are they just "display pieces", or useful cutlery? :?:

Don't hate me brother but I see them more as a novelty. I can't imagine any of the average ones I've seen holding up well to real world use. That said, I've seen a couple north of 250 USD that appear really robust, alas they always seem like the type of knife I'd rather display than put to use in those cases.

I also believe the ratio of real works of prison knives compared to re-imagined art is rather infinite. Seems more of a style than an actual rarity these days. Lots of guys showing up with identical models too, almost as though said "prisoner" had a small factory somewhere in eastern Europe. Haha.

But forgive me, I have not invested in one myself, so I could be completely wrong!

Peace.
