I just purchased this Asian OTF from Wackysharperboy

<img src="https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... 00x500.jpg" alt="New Tactical Double-Action OTF"/>

New Tactical Double-Action Automatic Pocket Knife. FEATURES INCLUDE: Fine-Edge Stainless-Steel Drop-Point Blade with Satin Finish and a Black Anodized-Aluminum Handle with Red Screws & Sliding Release Switch (Double-Action), a Red Glass-Breaker & a Belt/Pocket Clip. SPECS INCLUDE: Overall Length is about 9" long. No markings on the blade, handle or clip. This Knife is NEW, never used and is in MINT CONDITION overall. Blade is clean with original factory-sharp edge, fires fast & consistently with no "bounce-back" and just a tiny amount of mov't; handle also looks clean with no issues in the finishes. Design is based on the popular Microtech Ultratech OTF, but I wouldn't call it a clone. This knife has a tight action & fit just like the MT. Includes a Black "Molle" style Belt Sheath, T-Tool to open/tighten the handle screws and a plain white box.

It looks promising and it will be a "user" (pocket carry) for a friend. rather than shoved in a drawer. If it breaks, I'll only cry so many tears.

I hope she can sue it and enjoy the blade.

Looks like a decent Ultratech copy. Yeah, since it’s a cheaper knife, not really a big loss if it breaks.

.

I'd be interested to know how it compares to a (Taiwan) "Lightning" OTF.
Is the MT lookalike in the same price range? (approx. $35 or $40, I think)

No, this retails for $55. This knife is far superior to the "Lightning". This knife uses a well-tempered 440C blade and locks up far better than the latter. I spent the extra money because my friend is a 67-year-old woman that needs a defense/utility blade that is more reliable.

By the same token, the knife is "disposable", meaning that it won't cause worry if it is in a police evidence locker over an extended period of time while the situation is "sorted out". It is a "win-win" in nearly every aspect of utility/ownership.

Okay, now I'm interested...... are these currently in production? Where can I buy one?
--and does anyone know the name of the manufacturer, or the name/model # of this knife?

I don't know the name of the outfit that manufactured the knife. I did buy my Ontario XM-3 from Dave Wolfson (Wackysharperboy on Sharper Deals and WackyAAPKman on the All About Pocket Knives forum). If you go through the AAPK Forum website, perhaps Dave can give you the information you want. Dave Lives on Long Island in New York State.

I wish you nothing but the best! "Seek and ye shall find".

I don't think it's that new. . .I had to look and check at mine. see if it was different.

Yours has the newer screw heads with the triangles. . . mine are the old style 3 hole wrench.

I bought several two years ago, mine favorite is anodized red. . . same surface texture.
Mine has a spear blade. it was on DHGate.

I like it because it is reasonably thin. . . I don't care for the button.
If you take it apart, the inside carriage sliding plate has a tab that sticks out for the button.
It's supposed to stick into an Aluminum button. . .it's short.

But the clone has a plastic button, so the tab does nor reach into it far enough.
I can see the button getting loose in a few hundred openings.

If you look at the bottom of the photo, you can see where I took apart the Ultratech clone,
I took apart a purple anodized tanto blade,
you can see the stainless carriage tab sticking up for the button, and how short it is.
It barely sticks out of the body.
